The LM2575HVM-12/NOPB is a monolithic integrated circuit in the form of an adjustable 3-terminal positive voltage regulator. Designed to provide up to 1.5A of output current, the LM2575 series offers a wide range of operating voltages and it can be used in switching power supplies, DC to DC converters, polarity converters and other voltage regulation applications. It is easy to use, with very low dropout voltages, and adjustable output voltage.

This voltage regulator belongs to the PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuit) family and is classified under Voltage Regulators and DC DC Switching Regulators. DC DC Switching Regulators are used to convert one DC voltage level to another and the LM2575 series is designed to operate over a wide input voltage range. The maximum input voltage of the LM2575 series is 40V while its maximum output voltage can be set up to 37V, making it ideal for the conversion of high-voltage supplies to lower voltages.

The LM2575 series feature a low dropout voltage (VDROP) of 1.2V and a fast transient response. This enables it to deliver a steady and precise output voltage even when the input voltage fluctuates by as much as 20%. Its wide range of operating temperatures makes it ideal for applications that require both high power and temperature protection. In addition, its low quiescent current feature reduces power consumption, making it suitable for systems that require low power consumption.

The LM2575 series provides protection against over-voltage, over-temperature and short-circuit conditions. An over-voltage protection circuit ensures that the output voltage does not exceed the rated value, thereby avoiding damage to the connected circuit and components. An over-temperature protection circuit shuts down the device when the junction temperature reaches 125°C, preventing permanent damage due to over-temperature. A short-circuit protection circuit ensures that the output voltage remains within specs even when the output is shorted to the power supply lines.

The LM2575 series also offers a wide range of programmable features. These include the ability to set the output voltage through a single external resistor, as well as the output current limit (ICL) and a power-good signal. The LM2575 series also offers remote shutdown, enabling the user to turn the device off in the event of a fault condition. This feature helps to ensure the safety of both the device and the connected loads.

The LM2575 series also features an internal soft-start and pulse-width modulating output stage. The soft-start prevents large inrush currents during start-up, while the pulse-width modulator allows for reduced peak current stress on the output transistors. The power MOSFETs used in the output stage are integrated on the device, eliminating the need for an external power stage.
