The LM2576T-012G is a non-isolated switched-mode DC/DC voltage regulator, designed to deliver an output voltage of 12V from a wide 6V to 40V DC input range. This regulators offer high efficiency and require only a few external components. With the help of an internal control circuit, the switching frequency and dead time are set automatically to 400kHz. This ensures a constant, load independent, output voltage on a wide range of line and load conditions.

The LM2576T-012G voltage regulator contains two main blocks, the internal oscillator and the output control circuits. The internal oscillator utilizes a transistor, two resistors and two capacitors. By controlling the current supply to the oscillator, the control circuit sets the switching frequency, dead time and over-temperature protection of the device. The control circuit also stores the output voltage when the output load is changed and resets the protection circuit in case of any over-temperature or overload events.

The LM2576T-012G voltage regulator further consists of a dual MOSFET power switch, a Schottky diode, an error amplifier and a 1.3A peak current gate driver. The Schottky diode is installed to ensure separate channels and to reduce hot-swap enabled faults. Both of these features increases the switching efficiency of the regulator.

In addition to this, the output voltage can be adjusted with an internal resistor to maintain the voltage in a required range.
