The LM2594N-ADJ/NOPB is a high efficiency, monolithic, step-down DC-DC switching regulator designed for a variety of applications such as power supply, CPU core voltage, low power standby mode and power line supply monitoring. It features a high efficiency synchronous PWM switching controller, high voltage MOSFETs and an ideal diode.The LM2594N-ADJ/NOPB has an adjustable output voltage range from 0.8 V to 5.0 V. The input voltage range of 6 V to 35 V allows for wide operating environments. It provides up to a 9.5 A maximum output current and has an efficient synchronous rectifier for minimum power loss.The LM2594N-ADJ/NOPB is designed for operation in constant frequency mode. In this mode, the switching frequency is programmed internally at a fixed frequency of 250 kHz. This constant switching frequency reduces system noise by keeping the switching frequency at a constant level. In addition, the fixed frequency operation also provides a more consistent regulation loop performance and behavior. When the output voltage reaches a maximum or minimum limit, the LM2594N-ADJ/NOPB will switch to pulse-skip mode. This mode provides further reduction of power loss in light load conditions.A current overload protection circuit is included and is designed to be used in parallel with the load. The protection circuit will immediately shut down the LM2594N-ADJ/NOPB if an overcurrent condition occurs. The LM2594N-ADJ/NOPB also features an internal thermal protection circuit. This circuit senses the temperature of the LM2594N-ADJ/NOPB and will shut down the device if the internal temperature of the device reaches a pre-determined limit.The LM2594N-ADJ/NOPB also features an enable pin that can be used for power control.
