The LM2595T-3.3/NOPB is a DC-DC switching regulator which is highly efficient, providing up to95% efficiency. It can provide up to 3.3 volts from a 1.5V to 28V input. Application Fields
The LM2595T-3.3/NOPB is particularly suitable for input voltage regulation in RTD converters,LCDs, and other DC-DC step-up converters. Working Principle
The LM2595T-3.3/NOPB operates in a three-phase, pulse-width modulated (PWM) mode. Thelimited power switch turns on and off according to the 12-bit internal control logic. During the oncycle, the voltage on the output is lower than that of the input, and during the off cycle, it iskept low. The regulator combines the power switch and the controlling logic in a monolithicpackage. This allows for a simple loop structure to ensure excellent line and load regulation.
The LM2595T-3.3/NOPB uses a current-mode control method. During the switch on phase, anervous current flows in the power switch, and the regulator computes the required pulse widthevery cycle. This method allows the regulator to respond quickly to changes in the load. As theload increases, the pulse width is increased, and as the load decreases, the pulse width isreduced. This ensures accurate load regulation. In addition, the LM2595T-3.3/NOPB has aninternal soft-start circuit that reduces the inrush current when the device is first switched on.
The LM2595T-3.3/NOPB provides excellent thermal protection. It features an on-chip thermalprotection circuit that senses the die temperature and shuts down the power switch if thetemperature exceeds a certain level. This protects the switch from thermal overstress. Furthermore,the LM2595T-3.3/NOPB comes with current limit protection, which limits the load current if itexceeds the maximum switch current.
In addition, the LM2595T-3.3/NOPB provides an adjustable error amplifier. This enables the user toprecisely control the output voltage, and to compensate for the voltage drop caused by theoutput resistor. The LM2595T-3.3/NOPB also features a low-ripple operation, making it a moresuitable for applications such as audio amplifiers and DC-DC converters.
