The LM26001MXA is a flexible step-up converter that provides a DC-to-DC conversion solution for high output voltage applications. With an adjustable maximum continuous output current of up to 600 mA, the LM26001MXA can deliver up to 34V with excellent load and line regulation.

The LM26001MXA’s key features include wide input voltage range between 3.3V and 24V, making it well suited for battery powered and regulated power supply applications. It also features a 0.5 V feedback voltage accuracy, fast response time, PFM/PWM switching, low quiescent current, output disconnect, precise enable threshold, external shutdown, current-limit protection and a low minimum on-time of only 150ns.

 The LM26001MXA is an ideal choice for point-of-load regulation, LED drivers, and other applications requiring high power density and high efficiency. The device is available in both the 6-lead TSOT-23-6 and the 5-lead SOT-23-5 packages.

Working Principle

The LM26001MXA offers both fixed and variable output voltage: when the output voltage is set externally the device operates in fixed voltage mode, while the output voltage is adjusted with an internal regulating network when operated in variable mode. The device employs PFM/PWM cascaded-mode control to maintain high efficiency over the entire load range.

The LM26001MXA is a synchronous step-up converter that is driven by an internal oscillator. When in the PFM mode, the oscillator turns on and off the internal MOSFET switch, or switches, resulting in a constant on-time waveform. This waveform keeps the switching losses low, thereby providing high efficiency over a wide range of load currents. If the load current increases, the device automatically switches to the PWM mode where the frequency is reduced, enhancing the light load efficiency.

The LM26001MXA provides external feedback voltage control, overcurrent protection, programmable soft-start, input overvoltage protection and short-circuit protection. The device also features an enable pin that allows the use of an external logic signal to turn the device on or off.
