The LM26420XMHX/NOPB is a DC-DC switching regulator that is specially suited for high frequency, low voltage applications such as telecommunications systems, wired and wireless lighting systems, and other applications involving power conversion. It operates up to 650V and offers a high efficiency of up to 95%.The LM26420XMHX/NOPB consists of a power factor controller, a low EMI switching regulator, an output voltage regulation feedback portion, and a current limiting circuit. The power factor controller works to accurately set the load characteristics of the load in order to obtain the desired efficiency, as well as to minimize input EMI. It also provides automatic protection in both ramp-up and ramp-down modes, making it adaptive to changes in line and load conditions.The low EMI switching regulator provides high efficiency and low noise by using a two-stage synchronous step-down converter, which works to eliminate switching losses. The synchronous rectifier utilizes low on-resistance MOSFETs to minimize conduction losses, and operates with a constant frequency to minimize switching losses. The current limiting circuit monitors output current and protects against shorting to ground or a shorted output load.The output voltage regulation feedback portion adjusts the output voltage by a combination of a compensation current and an internal error amplifier.
