The LM2650MX-ADJ is a monolithic synchronous step-down voltage regulator offering excellent performance for DC to DC conversion. This device provides guaranteed 3.3 V output voltage from a 5 V input over a wide operating temperature range by driving two external N-channel MOSFETs.The LM2650MX-ADJ comes with integrated over-current and over-temperature protection, making it ideal for a variety of applications. It is designed to be a drop-in replacement of discrete FET-based switching regulators in mobile handsets, portable applications, and other power supply systems.The LM2650MX-ADJ utilizes peak current-mode control and synchronous rectification technology to achieve an ideal combination of efficiency and fast transient response. This makes the regulator suitable for a wide range of applications including high-speed CPUs and GPUs, low-power LEDs, and other high-speed loads.Its features include adjustable output voltage from 0.9 V to 5 V, 95 % efficiency, wide switching frequency from 500 kHz to 1.2 MHz, and over-current protection. It also features a fast transient response and a low current shutdown. The LM2650MX-ADJ is supplied in SOT-23-6 and MSOP-8 packages.The device operates in the continuous conduction mode. The internal high-side current sense amplifier monitors the load current and provides a sense voltage signal that is compared to an internal reference voltage and the current is regulated accordingly. The output voltage is also monitored and compared to an internal reference, and is adjusted by the error amplifier output.The LM2650MX-ADJ also features frequency foldback, allowing the regulator to reduce the switching frequency as the load current increases. This helps minimize EMI, reduces switching losses, and improves light load efficiency.The LM2650MX-ADJ is a DC-to-DC switching regulator that offers excellent performance and high efficiency in a variety of applications. Its adjustable output voltage and wide switching frequency range, combined with fast transient response and low current shutdown, make it ideal for portable applications, mobile handsets, and other power supply systems.
