Working Principle

The LM2672LD-ADJ/NOPB is a monolithic CMOS switching regulator that operates from a 4V to 28V input voltage range and provides up to 1A of continuous output current. The switching frequency can be synchronized to an external clock for applications requiring low noise frequency operation. The LM2672LD-ADJ/NOPB consists of an oscillator and comparator, a current limit and thermal protection circuitry and a fixed frequency logic-level PWM power switch. The LM2672LD-ADJ/NOPB uses the PWM signal to control a power switch, which regulates the power transfer from input voltage V IN to output voltage V OUT . A resistive feedback network sets the output voltage of the device by comparing it to a reference voltage. The output voltage is further regulated by acompensation network that gives the device a fast, stable response to fast output voltage transients, thus eliminating the need for external compensation components. The integration of a PWM power-switch, error amplifier and voltage setting network makes this device capable of providing the most efficient step-down voltage regulation.

The LM2672LD-ADJ/NOPB features a wide operating temperature range, low current consumption in shutdown mode, an automatic voltage boost and a low output voltage ripple.
