The LM2733XMF is a high-performance synchronous DC to DC step-down switching regulator capable of delivering up to 2A of output current while operating at a switching frequency of up to 900kHz. It has been specifically designed to reduce the complexity of power system design with integrated features such as a built in inductor, low-ripple frequency mode, built-in current-sense circuit, programmable slow-start, low-power stop mode, and adjustable output voltage. The LM2733XMF can deliver up to 2A of continuous output current and is fully equipped to handle additional features such as built in power protection, output voltage sequencing, and over temperature protection. It can also protect itself from inrush current, output shorts, and brownout conditions.The LM2733XMF application field stretches across many industries and applications such as industrial, automotive, communications, computing, and consumer. The device is suitable for high efficiency isolated point-of-load applications where the output voltage regulation accuracy must remain within tight limits. For example, LM2733XMF is used in applications such as automotive engine control systems, audio sub-systems, and digital multimedia equipment.This device operates in the fixed frequency PWM mode in the default state and utilizes a high-side controlFET, low-side controlFET, and an internal synchronous rectifier. The controlFET increases the capability of the device to handle higher loads. It also greatly reduces the output voltage ripple as compared to a standard PWM converter. There is an internal anti-phase pulse-width modulation (LM2746) controller that acts as a modulator to regulate the output voltage. During the normal operating mode, the output voltage is regulated by monitoring the feedback voltage and the PWM duty cycle is adjusted accordingly. The error amplifiers in the device monitor the feedback voltage and the output voltage is regulated accordingly.In order to operate the device in a high efficiency boost mode, an external synchronous rectifier and low-side FET controlFET can be used to significantly increase the efficiency of the system. The device also has a built-in current-sense circuit that allows the system designer to achieve precise output current, which helps reduce the switching losses. In addition, the device can be programmed to reduce the switching losses during light load conditions. The device can operate with an external clock or internal oscillator for switching.The LM2733XMF is an ideal solution for generating high efficiency and low noise power supplies with a wide range of voltage, current and temperature input range. Its high power density is also a key feature in further improving the output power density.
