The LM2735SD3.3EVAL evaluation board is a DC/DC and AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS module specifically designed to provide an easy, cost-effective way to quickly evaluate the features and performance of the LM2735D 3.3V, 1A buck converter IC. It provides a high efficiency, fully-featured buck-boost converter in a 4mm x 5mm VFQFPN package suitable for powering low-input voltage, low-power application requirements. This application field provides designers with the greatest flexibility when designing a system for a wide range of application environments.
The LM2735SD3.3EVAL is designed to run from a 7V to 28V input voltage, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. It features an adjustable operating frequency up to 3.5MHz, providing the designer with the ability to tailor the output ripple frequency based on their application requirements. The evaluation board also provides adjustable output voltage capabilities for outputs ranging from 0.9V to 3.3V. These features, along with excellent transient response and low total harmonic distortion, make the LM2735SD3.3EVAL an excellent choice for powering a wide variety of low power applications.
The LM2735SD3.3EVAL is designed to operate from a wide range of input voltages. In addition, the evaluation board features high efficiency, low Standby power consumption and low Noise-and-Ripple due to the high switching frequency of up to 3.5MHz. The LM2735SD3.3EVAL features a number of additional features which allow it to be easily adapted to a wide variety of application requirements. These features include adjustable output voltage, adjustable operating frequency, thermal compensation for improved stability, built-in over current protection, and an adjustable current limit to protect the load.
The underlying principle of operation for the LM2735SD3.3EVAL evaluation board is that of a voltage-driven buck-regulator. To simplify the circuit and reduce costs, the LM2735SD3.3EVAL is designed to use a single inductor to implement the transfer of energy between the input and output. The circuit utilizes a PWM-controlled switch to drive an inductor. This switch is connected to the voltage source such that it is turned on and off under the control of an internal logic block. This logic block is also responsible for calculating when to turn the switch off, allowing the inductor to store energy in the form of a magnetic field and subsequently releasing that energy when the switch is opened. The current then flows to the output and is regulated based on the load current.
The LM2735SD3.3EVAL evaluation board is designed to provide an easy, cost-effective way to quickly evaluate the features and performance of the LM2735D 3.3V, 1A buck converter IC, while providing ample flexibility to customize the design to the application’s particular power requirements. With adjustable output voltage, adjustable operating frequency, and the low total harmonic distortion, this evaluation board has the features to meet the demanding requirements of applications in the DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS application field.
