The LM2757TM/NOPB is a switching regulator controller that allows easy configuration of a high-performance synchronous buck converter. This highly integrated, flexible power solution is suitable for high performance, low noise point of load applications. Self-adjusting error amplifiers and unique hysteretic control with post-regulation ensure low output voltage ripple, line and load transient responses, and guaranteed performance at light loads. The fixed frequency, current mode architecture of the LM2757TM/NOPB delivers excellent line and load regulation, while the high noise immunity and wide duty cycle range provide excellent load regulation immunity to input voltage variations. The fine adjustability of the current threshold and the reset delay time is well suited for point of load applications. With its industry standard 8-lead SOIC package and a quiescent current of 7 mA at light loads, the LM2757TM/NOPB is perfect for space constrained applications.
The LM2757TM/NOPB is a series of high performance switching regulator controllers designed for cost effective implementation of synchronous buck regulators. It is designed to operate from wide-input voltage sources and supplies a regulated regulated adjustable output from 0.75V to 5.5V. The LM2757TM/NOPB integrates an optimized MOSFET gate driver with its own power source, hysteretic current control, and easy to use input/output interface. It also includes frequency compensation, voltage monitoring, over current protection, short circuit protection, and current limiting. Combining robust design with efficient operation and a wide-input range makes the LM2757TM/NOPB an ideal cost effective solution for a wide range of point-of-load power applications.
The working principle of the LM2757TM/NOPB is based on current mode control. This approach to power regulation involves measuring the inductor current and then comparing the measured current to a reference level. The difference between the two is used to regulate the power supply via the power MOSFETs. The error amplifier in the regulator creates the reference level by monitoring the output voltage and providing the necessary sense signal. As long as the sensed voltage remains within the desired range, the error amplifier keeps the current mode loop in regulation. If the voltage at the output rises above the desired range, the error amplifier increases the reference current to reduce the duty cycle applied to the MOSFETs. Likewise, if the voltage at the output drops below the desired range, the error amplifier reduces the reference current increasing the duty cycle applied to the MOSFETs.
