The LM27952SD is a buck-boost regulator power management IC (PMIC-LED Drivers). It is a versatile and fully-integrated power solution specifically designed to operate high-power and complex LED systems. The high-integrity synchronous regulator and companion power-training IC from Texas Instruments offers excellent load current accuracy and stability. The output voltage can range from 6V-36V and the output current can be up to 3A. With its integrated protection features, the LM27952SD provides system designers with the ability to more easily deploy LED systems safely.

The LM27952SD power management IC contains a wide variety of features that enable it to be an ideal solution for regulating and powering complex LED systems. When used in combination with the companion LM27954SD power-train IC, additional features such as phase-shifting, dimmable boost, and over-temperature protection are available. The external components include two Schottky power diodes, a single inductor and two ceramic capacitors. The operating temperature range is from -40°C to +125°C. The output voltage can range from 6V to 36V with a PWM dimmable LED current up to 3A. In addition, the integrated driver MOSFETs controls the LED current accuracy and eliminates the need for an external current sense resistor.

The LM27952SD includes a unique soft start feature that allows the IC to slowly ramp up the voltage when powering up the LED to prevent over-voltage conditions and inrush current. The built-in Under Voltage Lockout (UVLO) prevents the circuit from drawing large amounts of current when the supply voltage drops too low. The ENABLE pin allows the IC to turn off the power and go into low-power standby mode. This feature is useful in dimming applications, as the IC will power down when the dimming level is set to zero.

The LM27952SD is a robust PMIC for driving the most demanding LED applications.
