Features of Adaptive Voltage scaling
The LM2798MMX-2.0 features an adaptive voltage scaling system that allows it to optimize efficiency and supply output voltage accuracy over a wide range of input and output voltages. The controller can be programmed to operate with one external resistor, and then adapt its voltage setting based on the operating conditions. By dynamically scaling the output voltage, the LM2798MMX-2.0 can continuously monitor and adjust the output voltage in order to optimize efficiency. This on-the-fly parameter optimization also helps to minimize board space, cost, and power loss.
Independent Current Regulation
The LM2798MMX-2.0 includes an independent current regulation feature, which allows it to maintain a programmed, current-limited output even when the voltage falls below the programmed voltage. Application Field and Working Principle
The LM2798MMX-2.0 is ideally suited for mobile power supply applications such as smart phones and tablets, as well as automotive and industrial applications. As a DC-DC switching regulator, the LM2798MMX-2.0 operates on the principle of Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) to regulate the output voltage continuously. This is done by modulating the output signal of an oscillator with a controlling voltage. When the output voltage of the PWM signal exceeds the set value, the output voltage of the regulator is reduced. Conversely, when the output voltage of the PWM signal is below the set value, the output voltage is increased.
