The LM2854MH-1000/NOPB has two over current protection stages. When V_IN exceeds its maximum voltage or its load current raised over its maximum current rating, the device will be shut down. A second stage over current protection is provided by the device by sensing the output voltage via resistor R_OC. When the voltage across R_OC exceeds a certain threshold voltage, the device will immediately shut down.

As mentioned above, the LM2854MH-1000/NOPB can operate in slave mode to offer a continuous current control to its output voltage. The control voltage of the device could be adjusted; this adjustment is carried out by a Voltage Supervisor (VMON) integrated in the device. When the output voltage of the device falls below certain threshold, VMON will turn on the internal error amplifier, such that the output voltage will be adjusted.

Input supply protection is also provided by the LM2854MH-1000/NOPB. The device will shut itself down when its input supply voltage exceeds its maximum recommended operating voltage. A built-in under voltage lock out is also integrated in the device to ensure that device will remain stable when its input voltage falls below a certain threshold.
