<p>LM34925EVAL/NOPB evaluation boards are designed to evaluate the performance of the LM34925 IC, which is a 3-A synchronous DC/DC boost converter used for wide input voltage range (2.85V to 10V) DC/DC conversion applications. The board is capable of handling both high- and low-side N-channel MOSFETs which allows it to be used in 1-cell Li+ and multi-cell Li+ battery voltage source applications.</p><p>The LM34925EVAL/NOPB evaluation board includes the LM34925 IC, two MOSFETs, a few passive components, and a DCP (DC Power) jack. The DCP jack can be connected to a 5V supply and a load resistor to evaluate the LM34925 operating conditions. The board is designed to be used with an external temperature sensor.</p><h2>Application Field</h2><p>The LM34925EVAL/NOPB evaluation board can be used for a variety of DC/DC and AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS applications. It is suitable for applications such as Li+ battery chargers, Li+/NiCd/NiMH/Alkaline battery adapters, consumer appliances, external power supplies, cell phone chargers, and DC/DC converters. It also can be used for DC/DC and AC/DC (off-line) SMPS applications including high efficiency flyback converters, forward converters, and active power factor correction (PFC) circuits.</p><h2>Working Principle</h2><p>The LM34925EVAL/NOPB evaluation board is a 3-A synchronous DC/DC boost converter with variable switching frequency. The IC has two smilar internal switching FETs: the common power switch (CPS) and the sync switch (SS). The CPS can be operated in a 10V to 10V range to provide good voltage regulation and efficiencies. The SS is the second switch, operating in a range from 0V to 8V, and is used to synchronize the switching frequency of the IC.</p><p>The LM34925EVAL/NOPB is designed to provide excellent performance with minimum design effort. It integrates both the high- and low-side power switch and is designed to minimize the external component count. The IC also includes built-in features such as thermal shutdown, frequency synchronization, feed-forward compensation, and overvoltage protection, making it suitable for many applications.</p><p>The IC offers adjustable switching frequencies between 150 kHz and 1 MHz and can provide a wide input voltage range from 2.85V to 10V. The IC includes an integrated soft-start circuit that controls the ramp up of the output voltage and eliminates in-rush current and voltage overshoot. The IC also includes a powergood indicator pin and programmable undervoltage lockout (UVLO) function for safety operation.</p><p>The LM34925EVAL/NOPB is designed to accept an external temperature sensor for thermal protection, allowing the IC to turn off the power transistor at over-temperature conditions.
