The LM53600NAEVM evaluation board is designed to demonstrate the features and operations of the LM53600NA x2 synchronous buck controller. It is an Evaluation Boards - DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS device, ideal for operation at 500kHz switching frequencies. The device contains extensive protections, including over-temperature, under-voltage lockout (UVLO), over-current protection (OCP), and variable frequency foldback protection, as well as supply/ground short-circuit and over-voltage protections. Additionally, the LM53600NA also offers the ability to re-use the previous settings after a change in input voltage.

LM53600NAEVM application field is focused on high-performance power conversion applications, such as supplying power to microprocessors in industrial computers and communication equipment, which specify a wide input voltage range from 3.1V to 5.5V and from 4.2V to 6.7V. It can also be used for test applications that require high voltage testing, and a variety of DC-DC converter applications.

The LM53600NAEVM evaluation board provides a two-phase switching buck regulator with adjustable output voltage, which is monitored by a regulated current source. The board includes an external power FET, which is switched by the LM53600NA. The external power FET is connected in a synchronous buck configuration with a high frequency, high-current power inductor and a low ESR output capacitor. To ensure an optimal power conversion efficiency, the LM53600NA can be adjusted for different switching frequencies and output voltages. To maximize the conversion efficiency, the evaluation board provides an adjustable current limit and adjustable fast-transient response (FTR) time.

The working principle of LM53600NAEVM is based on the Buck configuration topology, which is one of the main topologies used in DC/DC converters. The topology is used for transforming an input voltage of a range of 3.1V to 5.5V and from 4.2V to 6.7V into an output of variable voltage. The device includes an internal current limit and an adjustable fast-transient response (FTR) time. It also offers the ability to re-use the previous settings after a change in input voltage.
