Working Principle

The LMK04110SQX/NOPB works by exchanging data between two independent clock sources, a Global Synthesizer and a Regional Clocking Network. The Global Synthesizer provides two outputs, which can be set to different frequencies that must be within the range of 8.192 MHz to 450 MHz. The Regional Clocking Network provides a jitter-cleaned output that can be programmed to generate any clock frequency within the range of 16 MHz to 1.9 GHz. The device can also be programmed to implement frequency synthesis allowing for greater frequency flexibility.

The LMK04110SQX/NOPB can also be used as a fan-out buffer, allowing for a single clock source, such as a VCXO connected directly to the device, to be converted into a network of clocks that can be used for different clock platforms. This is made possible via the OCR generator, which supports a VCXO frequency range of 16 MHz to 327 MHz. The buffered outputs provide improved noise immunity, ensuring a robust clocking solution when distributing multiple clocks in a communications or data-transport system.
