The LMS33460MG is an advanced PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuit) in the form of a Supervisors field. It uses an innovative concept to oversee power management for a wide range of applications, called the Gate Pin concept. This concept uses a generic gate pin to manage power, customize feature functionality, and enable I/O modes for power monitoring.
The gate-pin can be used to enable and disable power sources with controlled rise/fall times, and provide an on/off hook control to allow/restrict I/O operation as needed. There are three different I/O modes available on the LMS33460MG that provide the user with various options when managing power. These I/O modes include, Active High (AH), Active Low (AL), and Pass-Through (PT).
In Active High (AH) mode, an output is created on the gate-pin when the power supply voltage surpasses the pre-defined threshold. This output is used to control devices such as relays and transistors to enable, disable, or trigger custom power management tasks. In Active Low (AL) mode, a low output is generated on the gate-pin when the power supply voltage is below the threshold or some condition is exceeded. This output can then be used to control power off or load shed operations.
Pass-Through (PT) mode allows direct control of the I/O pins from the AC power source. This mode is ideal for applications that require direct control of the I/O pins from the AC power source such as lighting control, power conditioners, etc. With this mode, the gate-pin acts as an input to the I/O pins, allowing for complete control of the I/O capabilities.
The LMS33460MG supervisor is designed to ensure the best possible power management in today’s dynamic systems. It enables power protections, custom power management tasks (AH/AL/PT), and temperature monitoring. The temperature monitor is essential to ensure the proper operation of the device and its peripheral components.
The supervisor also provides two window watchdog timers that can be used to monitor power operations during a specified window period. If a condition is not met within the specified window period, the supervisor will generate a power-off event. The supervisor also provides a programmable voltage monitor that can be used to monitor the power supply voltage and generate a power-off event if it falls below the specified warning level.
The LMS33460MG is a highly integrated, feature-rich PMIC for the Supervisors field. It has the capability to monitor power, customize features and enable I/O modes for reliable power management. It is one of the most advanced PMICs available for today’s dynamic systems.
