LMZ14201EXTEVAL/NOPB evaluation board allows customers to quickly and easily evaluate the Texas Instruments LMZ14201 integrated DC/DC converter. Its broad input and output ranges render the board suitable for a range of industrial applications spanning from telecom, automotive, cloud computing and gaming fields to consumer and computing applications. The board is also specifically designed to meet many typical off-line power supply requirements.

This evaluation board is a two-stage offline power converter featuring a Buck-Boost stage followed by a double stage-flyback converter capable of delivering up to 12W output power. The board features a wide range of input voltage from 9V to 60V DC and a wide range of output voltages 3.3V to 12V DC. It also incorporates advanced features such as current-mode Constant On Time (COT) control for high efficiency operation and cycle-by-cycle current limiting for fault protection.

The board consists of two main parts the LMZ14201 integrated evaluation module and the NopB specialty power supply. The NopB power supply allows customers to evaluate the performance of the LMZ under different operating conditions, such as load conditions and input voltage levels, by providing the necessary power to run the board.

The LMZ14201 evaluation module contains the LMZ14201 converter, an LM5060 current-mode, Constant On Time (COT) controller, which uses a Phase-Shift Connection (PSC) for a more efficient operation, and a pair of LT1636 drivers. The converter also features a variety of features including an input Start-up network that ensures a smooth start-up of the converter at low input voltage levels, a built-in overvoltage (OVP) protection, an output voltage divider network that can be monitored for auto tracking of output voltage and remote sense for ensuring correct output voltage. Additionally, the board is also capable of operating in both PFC & Discontinuous Conduction Mode (DCM).

In terms of its performance, the board is capable of providing efficient operation with an output power of up to 12W with an efficiency of 93%. In addition to its power conversion capabilities, the board also allows customers to configure a variety of parameters, such as frequency, output voltage, and current-mode control loop.
