LMZ23605DEMO/NOPB

LMZ23605DEMO/NOPB is an evaluation board designed as a DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS. It supports up to 1.2W output power at 3.3V. LMZ23605DEMO/NOPB is based on the HiperLCS topology and consist of three active components. LX3102 is a low voltage current mode PWM controller that provides fixed frequency operation and uses a synchronous rectifier to provide up to 92% efficiency. A low-loss inductor and a rectifier diode completes the onboard power supply circuit.

The LMZ23605DEMO/NOPB evaluation board has a wide range of applications, ranging from low-power transportable appliances to desktop and server power supplies. It is suitable for the evaluation of portable electronics, such as laptop computers, cell phones and PDAs. It can be used to evaluate the performance of DC/DC converters, AC/DC converters, switching regulators and step-down circuits. It can also be used to evaluate the performance of DC motor drives, building automation systems and home-lighting systems. Additionally, the board can be used for prototyping and production of linear and switching power supplies.

The working principle of the LMZ23605DEMO/NOPB evaluation board follows the HiperLCS design. As illustrated in the circuit, the output is provided by an LX3102 low voltage current mode PWM controller and a low-loss inductor. The rectifier diode provides the output voltage. The current flow in the circuit is controlled by the PWM controller. This ensures that the output voltage is regulated and remains steady. The PWM controller also guards against current and voltage overshoots and short circuit protection.

The LMZ23605DEMO/NOPB evaluation board also supports multiple modes of operation. It supports both open loop and closed loop operations. In the open loop operation, the LMZ23605DEMO/NOPB board assumes a fixed output voltage and the current flow is controlled by the PWM controller. In the closed loop operation, the output voltage is varied according to the reference input and the current is monitored and adjusted by the PWM controller. The board can be easily configured to support any of the available output voltage and current ranges.
