LMZ23610EVAL/NOPB is an evaluation board for DC/DC & AC/DC (off-line) switch-mode power supply (SMPS). It implements a fully integrated design, which makes possible the use of a single switch-mode power supply converter to deliver multiple voltage rails with good efficiency and power factor.

This evaluation board makes it possible to evaluate a 24 Volt DC to 12 Volt DC SMPS. It also operates in most environments such as automotive and building systems, and industrial and communication systems. The board equipments are current-mode controller LM5030 (concurrent dual-mode peak current-mode controller) and power stages, CMD163 (dual half brick HV MOSFET driver), power MOSFETs, TVS diode, inductor such as 744300C bulk.

The LM5030 provides a precise voltage control loop, and the output current is sensed by external resistor divider network and a voltage feedback from the output to an adjustable pin. This feedback can be used to sense the output voltage of the power supply. The CMD163 provides 1200V MOSFETs output peak current drive capability, as well as fast turn-on and short circuit protection capabilities.

As the operating conditions change, the UVLO (Under Voltage Lock Out) and OCP (Over-Current Protection) features of the LM5030 are handled by the internal protection circuit. There is also an on-board temperature sensor and ESD protection to improve the reliability of the system. This evaluation board includes a variety of protection features to protect the LM5030 and the switches from over-voltage, over-current and under-voltage conditions.

The board also has an LED indicator to show the operating status of the SMPS. It will flash when the SMPS is in normal operation. If it is in an over-current protection (OCP) state, then the LED will be illuminated. There are also an adjustable potentiometers for output voltage and for soft-start. These adjustments can be made to create an optimal output voltage for the given application.
