The LNK4302S-TL is an advanced and highly integrated power switching solution with high efficiency and fast transient response for offline AC/DC converters. It is designed to meet the global standby, light load, and active mode power requirements for low power applications such as digital cameras, cell phones, GPS navigation devices and other portable electronic devices. It features an advanced and highly integrated power switching solution with a constant frequency and an active clamped voltage mode architecture that can provide up to a maximum of 75 watts of output power with an improved EMI performance. The device also includes integrated MOSFET drivers, a high voltage start-up regulator and an overvoltage protection and current limit circuit to protect the device from overvoltage, overcurrent and excessive temperature conditions.

The LNK4302S-TL is designed to meet the latest low-power requirements for applications in the consumer, industrial and medical markets. It is designed to provide exceptionally fast transient response and high efficiency during start-up and light load, with quick protection to prevent typical EMI issues caused by a large-scale switch-mode power supply. With an easy pin-out design and a built-in FoxFET driver, the LNK4302S-TL can support multiple current modes including Y-class, C-class, and CCM. It also includes an integrated low-side MOSFET driver and two high-side MOSFET drivers with independent programmable gate drive levels and MOSFET slew rates.

The LNK4302S-TL is based on a constant frequency/active clamped architecture. During operation, the device operates in three different current-mode control stages: start-up synchronization, light load, and normal load. During start-up, the device detects the presence of an AC input and then initiates synchronization. Once synchronization is established, the device enters the light load control mode, which requires an input voltage of at least 4V. The LNK4302S-TL then activates the internal regulator with an active clamped power stage to provide excellent current regulation during light load operation. The device will then switch to normal load once the input voltage reaches 8.5V.

The LNK4302S-TL also incorporates several protection features for comprehensive system protection. These include an overvoltage protection circuit, an overcurrent protection circuit, an over-temperature protection circuit, and a short-circuit protection circuit. Additionally, the device is equipped with built-in ESD protection, short-circuit protection, and a unique current limit circuit. The current limit circuit is designed to prevent saturation of the output voltage rail at higher current levels.

Ideally suited for low power applications, the LNK4302S-TL dramatically reduces energy waste while providing a high-demand, accurate and fast-transitioning power solution.
