The LNK500P power supply IC from Power Integrations is designed to deliver a highly efficient offline switching power supply made up of AC-DC converters. The LNK500P operates in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM). This enables it to provide better efficiencies than continuous conduction mode (CCM) devices. Additionally, it supports PWM dimming with a smooth transition and a wide dimming range of between 0.1% and 100%. It also features a standby power mode with an adjustable threshold voltage. This helps reduce the total system cost by reducing the level of standby power.

The LNK500P includes an active burst mode function which helps improve system efficiency at light loading conditions. It also has a built-in fault protection system that can detect and protect against various power supply faults such as over voltage, over current, short circuit, and over temperature. Additionally, it has a low-power sleep mode that reduces the power consumption when the load is low.
