The LINEARintegrated LNK520P, AC DC converter and offline switcher is an integrated offline switcher IC mainly suitable for LED lighting applications. It features fast switching, low ripple and voltage sag, minimum standby power, and extensive protection features to enhance reliability and robustness of lighting designs.

The LNK520P is based on a zero-voltage crossing high-performance line- and load-regulated current-mode switching PWM controller, and includes an integrated 600 V MOSFET featuring a low RDSon . At these reduced on-resistance, higher efficiency and better thermal performance can be achieved. The integrated MOSFET in the LNK520P has a low saturation voltage drop and low output voltage ripple. Additionally, the LNK520P provides a low standby power mode with a minimum PRI, e.g. 75 mW @ 230 V/ 50 Hz, to meet various standby power requirements in the world.

The LNK520P, AC DC converter and offline switcher, employs a wide range of internal protections including current limit, over-voltage increase, over-temperature, and supply start-up supervision. These features enhance the robustness of lighting designs and reduce the size and number of external components needed.The working principle of the LNK520P is based on a current mode Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) controller. The PWM Controller employs an internal multiple window comparator and Reference to detect instant error and regulate the output current over a wide line and load range.
