The device also includes an output voltage monitor, a feedback signal amplifier and a UVLO (Under-Voltage Lockout) circuit. Integrated inside the device are Hysteretic thermal shutdown circuitry and cycle-by-cycle current limit.

Working Principle

The LNK6768K is a low cost AC/DC offline switcher IC, which features an integral 1.5A current switch, input and output current sense, fixed frequency current mode control, a start-up circuit, open/short protection, input current limiting, and output voltage opto-isolation.

The core functions of the LNK6768K include a power factor correction (PFC) rectifier, a power switch current sense circuit, an oscillator, and internal fixed frequency current mode control. The device also incorporates comprehensive protection features such as over-voltage protection, under-voltage protection and over-temperature protection.

The device is designed to start up without any external components and operates with a low parts count. It starts up under light load & cold conditions, and provides excellent performance in most design scenarios. Once the device starts up and regulates, it operates in either continuous conduction mode when a heavy load is applied, or in pulse width modulation (PWM) mode when a light load is applied.
