LNK6779V is an AC-DC converter designed specifically for offline switchers. It is an ideal cost-effective solution for converting AC input power to DC output with high accuracy. It provides an excellent operating efficiency of up to 98% and low standby power.
LNK6779V consists of a 650V or 800V primary switch, an active clamp cycle by cycle current limit device, an onboard switching FET and a few microcontroller components. It features primary-side regulation (PSR) to eliminate opto-couplers and secondary-side voltages sense and control components. The overall volume of the application field is controlled by a secondary feedback in order to make sure it can reach the target efficiency and stability. Besides, it includes primary-side current sensing and detection circuits, preventing overload and providing protection under various conditions.
The working principle of LNK6779V application field is to take an AC input voltage, connect it to the primary side switch and then to the clamp cycle current detecting and limiting device. The current level will be monitored by a peak current sensing circuit. Excess current will be pushed back to the input side by the active clamp device, while enough current will pass through the onboard switching FET and regulated by the PSR to provide a regulated DC output voltage. The control of the onboard switch is taken care by the microcontroller.
