Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors
Aluminum electrolytic capacitors (aka "aluminum capacitors" or "electrolytic capacitors") are polarized capacitors with a larger capacitance per unit volume than other types, such as ceramic or film capacitors. Aluminum electrolytic capacitors contain two aluminum foil electrodes separated by a dielectric layer of aluminum oxide that was formed through anodization. They also feature an electrolyte, which can be liquid or solid.
LNX2V272MSEFBB is a four-terminal aluminum electrolytic capacitor with very low impedance for low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) and very high capacitance. Working Principle
An aluminum electrolytic capacitor is made of two metal plates separated by a porous, oxidized membrane called a dielectric. The two plates are connected to opposite poles of a power source. When a current is applied, positive ions move toward the negative plate and negative ions move toward the positive plate. This creates an electric field between the two plates. As current flows from one plate to the other, it creates a voltage across the capacitor.
The capacitance of an aluminum electrolytic capacitor is determined by two factors: the thickness of the aluminum oxide dielectric layer and the surface area of the positive and negative plates. As the voltage across the capacitor increases, the thickness of the dielectric layer increases as well, which increases the capacitance. The larger the surface area of the two plates, the higher the capacitance.
