LP38502ATJ-EV is a low-power/low-noise integrated voltage regulator with excellent line and load regulation combined with low quiescent current and high PSRR. LP38502ATJ-EV is designed with 1A low-dropout linear regulator, and is capable of providing up to 500mA of output current with excellent load regulation performance. The different versions of LP38502ATJ-EV have different input voltages ranging from 1.4V to 5.5V, and output voltages ranging from 0.495V to 3.3V. It also features programmable output current limiting and thermal shutdown. The integrated FETs enable high-current step-down operation as well as higher efficiency than boost/charge pump regulators. The LP38502ATJ-EV has a wide range of applications such as powering microcontrollers and microprocessors, RF power amplifiers, low-power consumers, SIM card and memory card readers, etc. It is also used in 3V and 5V systems, providing long life, low power, and efficient regulation.The working principle of the LP38502ATJ-EV is based on a linear voltage regulator, in which the input voltage is compared to an internal reference. If the input voltage is higher than the reference, a current limiting circuit will be activated and the output current will be reduced. The output voltage is then regulated by a feedback system, which keeps the voltage at a specific level. LP38502ATJ-EV uses a low on-resistance P-channel MOSFET with an on-resistance of 42mΩ at 1V and wide input voltage range from 1.4V to 5.5V. The regulator offers fast transient response, low output noise and very low quiescent current. The output voltage can be adjusted by an external voltage divider or by a programmed output resistor. The output current limiting is active from 0.1mA to 500mA and it also has a thermal shutdown feature. The thermal-shutdown feature helps to prevent IC failure under long-term overload or high-temperature conditions. The LP38502ATJ-EV is a great voltage regulator owing to its high efficiencies, excellent line/load regulation, good transient response, low quiescent current, and high PSRR. It is suitable for applications that require an efficient and accurate voltage regulation with low noise over a wide input voltage range.
