The LSM303DLHCTR motion sensor belongs to the family of Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) used for motion sensing applications. IMUs provide the ability to measure acceleration, angles, and angular velocity simultaneously in three dimensions, making them ideal for a wide range of applications. The orientation is calculated by using the measurements taken by both the accelerometers and magnetometers and combining the data. This orientation is then used to modify the output of the IC, depending on what the application requires.
