Working Principle of the LTC4088EDE-1#TRPBF

The LTC4088EDE-1#TRPBF (Figure 1) works with the following principle: when an input voltage is applied, it charges the battery withcurrent sourced from an external power source. The battery temperature is monitored by the internal thermistors, and the charging current and the charge voltage are regulated. The charge current is controlled by adjusting the duty cycle of a PWM signal by measuring the voltage drop across the sense resistor. The charge voltage is regulated by comparing the output voltage of the error amplifier with a reference voltage. When the battery is fully charged, the device will terminate the charging cycle.The LTC4088EDE-1#TRPBF is designed to provide an efficient, cost-effective and safe charging solution for Li-Ion/Polymer battery packs.
