It is a compact, low-profile and thermally efficient IC that offers an integrated switching power supply and battery charger (PSU) for Li-Ion and Li-Pol chemistries. The IC is capable of charging batteries from a wide range of input sources including USB, Li-Ion cells and AC adapter.
LTC4095EDC#TRMPBF is an AC adapter and battery charge controller. Its 4.2 mA internal current regulator can satisfy the charging needs of most cell chemistries and ensures that the device is charged adequately and in a safe manner. It also utilizes two independent voltage regulators to provide regulation at two different levels. The LDO regulator can be adjusted progressively and supports applications in which the set point is set according to cell chemistry. The other adjustable regulator can be used to protect the device from over-charging and over-discharging.
The IC provides two high-side unregulated currents to the battery. The main current has a polarity controlled by the EN pin and is used to charge the battery at different levels by varying the intensity of the current in response to changing conditions. It supports data transfer speeds up to 2.5 Mbps and provides power delivery capability up to 5V/2A for USB PD applications.
