TheLTC4120EUD-4.2#PBF is a highly integrated battery charger ideal for powering space limited, environmentally sensitive devices consuming up to 10 Watts or for protecting battery packs up to 10 Amp-hours. Designed to balance system power demands and fuel cell or battery capacity, this fully integrated PMIC – Battery Chargers features a Maximum Power Point Controller to eliminate the need for external power component up to 9.2 V and synchronous rectification for low power loss operation.The LTC4120EUD-4.2#PBF operates down to -40°C and provides a high level of system integration: wide input voltage range of 4.2 V to 24 V, up to 5.1V of maximum output voltage and up to 3.5 A of continuous output current capability. This feature allows it to be applied in numerous practical operations. It also offers reliable power conversion with cost and size reductions, compared to discrete solutions, in applications such as wearable electronics, IoT, industrial and portable medical systems.
Working Principle
The LTC4120EUD-4.2#PBF is based on Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technology using a proprietary control algorithm, delivering unrivalled power efficiency to maximize system autonomy. This algorithm enables the charger to operate along with several sources simultaneously, such as solar, fuel cells or batteries and it is also able to select the best power source dynamically, based on the available sources. The LTC4120EUD-4.2#PBF is an intelligent battery charger for rechargeable Li-ion and Li-polymer batteries. It can simultaneously measure the output current and the voltage of the battery and decide the correct charge characteristics.The charger also provides various safety protections such as short circuit protection, thermal overload protection, battery overcharge protection, battery over-discharge protection, overcurrent protection and reverse battery protection.Application Fields
