The capacitor is equipped with a plastic case with maximum dimensions of 25×10 mm and can be used in various applications ranging from consumer electronics, computing, automotive, industrial, power, lighting and telecommunications. In terms of usage, this capacitor can also be used for energy storage, de-coupling, noise filtering, snubbing, timing and some other applications.
The capacitor consists of two foil strips – an anode foil and a cathode foil. The anode side is made of a pure aluminum with an oxide film created over it through the process of anodization. This oxide film is the dielectric which can hold the energy and store charge over it. The other is the cathode foil which is designed with a thin layer of metal that is more conductive than aluminum. This cathode side is also integrated with paper on which electrolytes are deposited. The electrolytes leads the current to flow from one foil to another.
The capacitor also has an insulation sleeve which is positioned between the anode and cathode terminals to ensure that no drifting current occurs. This sleeve should be particularly cushioned to prevent any kind of corrosive damage, or any other kind of physical damage.
