A TRIAC is a type of thyristor, or a solid state switch, which consists of three semiconductor junctions connected together in a symmetrical, three-terminal arrangement. It is a component commonly used for controlling current in applications ranging from AC motor speed control to interface power supply requirements to other circuits. MAC4DHM-1G Working Principle
The MAC4DHM-1G uses a single thyristor device in the form of a three-terminal switch. When a voltage is applied to the gate terminal, the two main terminals become electrically connected, allowing current to flow freely through the device. This connection is called "THRU" or "TURN". To control current conduction through the device, the gate terminal can be driven to continually hold a positive or negative voltage relative to its main terminals, thus ensuring maximum conduction of current across the terminals.
The operation of the device is further enhanced by the presence of a temperature protection circuit that detects the amount of time that the device is in a switching mode and reduces the amount of current conduction if the temperature reaches a certain threshold level. In addition, self-protection logic is used to reduce the device\'s conduction if the current flow through the terminals exceeds its rated value.
