Maxim Integrated MAX1085AESA+ is a 10-bit, 65MSPS, low-power, 8 channel, analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with an integrated serializer and deserializer (SerDes) interface. This device is designed to provide an easy to use, low power, high performance data acquisition system. With an internal low noise, low jitter reference and clock source, the MAX1085AESA+ is optimized for low power applications.

The MAX1085AESA+ ADC provides a very high accuracy, low power conversion from 8 channels of analog input signals to 10-bit DQS (Digital Quadrature Signal) outputs within a single device. The ADC features a low distortion, low noise input SPI-compatible serial interface with an 8-bit DQS output link. The internal reference and external clock sources enable the major power supply, the reference, and the clock sources to be integrated into a single device.

For a single MAX1085AESA+, the sampling rate of 65 MSPS can be achieved with a system clock rate of 72.2 MHz (2.5 x the sample rate). This sampling rate is nearly double the speed of other families currently available in the market. The low peak power consumption of below 400 mW further improves its energy efficiency.

The device utilizes a low noise, low jitter PLL clock synthesizer embedded into the MAX1085AESA+ to ensure a wide bandwidth of the sampled signal, and to minimize the effect of the external clock jitter on the performance of the ADC. This clock synthesis architecture eliminates the need for an external clock generator and significantly simplifies the system design.Additionally, the MAX1085AESA+ features a low- noise, low-distortion integrated 8-bit serializer and deserializer (SerDes) interface, which simplifies the external connections. This integrated SerDes interface provides access to up to 8 separate, 10-bit, simultaneously sampled analog inputs.
