Working Principle

The MAX1093BCEG+T uses a successive approximation register (SAR) and flash type architecture to convert analog signals to digital signals. The ADC converts the analog signal by first separating and amplifying the signal. Then, the separated signal is streamed to a capacitor array, where each capacitor holds one bit of the digital value. The initial capacitor array is charged to the level of the incoming signal, and each successive capacitor is charged to a higher level until the desired digital result is obtained. The difference between the voltage of the last capacitor and the incoming analog signal is the digital result.
