Data Acquisition – Analog to Digital Converters (ADC) is a process for converting analog signals into digital signals. Such conversions are necessary for digital systems which can only process digital data. The MAX1115EKA+T (A + T) is an integrated circuit (IC) designed to enable analog signals to be accurately digitized and converted into digital signals.
The MAX1115EKA+T utilizes an integrated temperature sensor that allows it to capture and convert temperature data. The MAX1115EKA+T IC provides a higher resolution than the standard analog-to-digital conversion and enables the isolation of temperatures to more detailed sub-degree measures. It is built with an on-chip comparator that can measure up to 15-bit resolution, allowing for a higher degree of accuracy.
The MAX1115EKA+T employs a low-power analog-to-digital technique which features a wide-range of input voltage, as well as full-scale conversion that utilizes a reference voltage derived from a 1.5V internal reference. The low-power technique applied to the MAX1115EKA+T IC enhances the ability of the device to digitize temperature information correctly and efficiently. The temperature sensor is calibrated such that it is accurate over a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C (+150°C over a smaller temperature range).
The MAX1115EKA+T device has a resolution of 1/16th and a current consumption of approximately 60uA. It is also easily integrated into application and measurement systems and supports both single-ended and differential inputs. The generated frequency is then read by the digital switch inside the MAX1115EKA+T responsible for the conversion from the analog to the digital domain, resulting in the digital signal that is proportional to the temperature.
