Data acquisition is a process of collecting data using a variety of techniques and technologies. The various data acquisition techniques include but are not limited to direct human input, analog to digital conversion and sensor measurement techniques. The gathered data is usually processed and analyzed by the computer or other communication systems. Data Acquisition systems are used in various applications in medical, industrial and consumer markets.The application of the MAX11311GTJ+T Special Purpose Data Acquisition Modules provide efficient and accurate acquisition of data at much higher speed and in greater detail than earlier analog methods. The module addresses several critical functions in data acquisition, including signal capture and consolidation, synchronization, and clock/timing generation. The MAX11311GTJ+T is a digitally controlled, multi-rate cable or satellite receiver modem subsystem that is used primarily to receive digital television data from a digital cable or satellite receiver. It utilizes I²C, SPI, MIPI®, and other digital interfaces to transfer captured data stream. The module is designed to be used in applications such as digital television set-top boxes, digital cameras and network set-tops.The MAX11311GTJ+T Special Purpose Data Acquisition Module consists of two main components - a Digital Front End (DFE) and a Cable Motion Processor (CMP). The DFE includes advanced signal acquisition capabilities such as locking, filtering, automatic gain control and advanced signal processing. The CMP consists of an integrated low-latency, multirate DMA engine, as well as a clock/timing generator.The DFE can capture data from up to four digital data streams, each with its own timing requirements and analog front end. Data from all streams is merged together, and can be transferred to the cable motion processor or directly to the host system. The CMP is used to convert the mixed digital data streams into user-defined data streams. The CMP also incorporates timing and synchron Ity generation, which ensures that all data captured is processed in the correct order.The MAX11311GTJ+T Special Purpose Data Acquisition Module can also detect errors in the digital data stream and can perform automatic re-sync and error recovery. The module is designed to be used in a variety of digital television, industrial and medical applications. The module also supports synchronization and Error Correction able (ECC) protocols, allowing users to perform a variety of different data acquisition tasks with high accuracy and reliability.The device also includes a multi-zone clock/timing generation for providing all the necessary clocks for any number of different applications.
