The MAX15006AASA/V+ is a low-dropout, 220-mA linear regulator designed to provide 3.3 V regulated output voltage from five input voltages as low as 2.5 V and up to 5.5 V. It can achieve an extremely low dropout voltage of 120 mV, while delivering a constant current of 220 mA. It features excellent line and load regulation performance, zero line transient response time and very low output noise. MAX15006AASA/V+ is a versatile, low-cost linear regulator ideal for driving high-power integrated circuits such as processors and FPGAs.

The MAX15006AASA/V+ is able to effectively maintain constant output even under demanding load transients and environmental conditions such as temperature variations. It is also equipped with Over-Current Protection (OCP) and Thermal Protection (TSP) to ensure reliable operation even in extreme conditions. The OCP monitors current over a selectable range of 20 mA, 40 mA and 60 mA, and trips when the current limit is exceeded. The OCP circuit also helps to keep down the power losses and extend the operating temperature range. The TSP monitors the die temperature and trips in case of an excessive temperature rise.

The MAX15006AASA/V+ has a wide range of applications, including the powering of processors and FPGAs, low-voltage automotive and consumer electronics applications, power supplies, RF transmitters and receivers, PC peripherals, consumer applications such as cameras and GPS systems, etc. It is also ideal for powering mixed-signal systems such as multimedia applications, communications ICs and ASICs.

The MAX15006AASA/V+ features an adjustable output voltage, adjustable and/or fixed current limit settings and a wide operating temperature range. It has an input protection feature which protects the input capacitor and output FET from latch-up and over-current conditions. It also has an output disconnect feature which shuts off the output voltage when VOUT is greater than 0.5 V. The integrated linear voltage regulator of the MAX 15006AASA/V+ uses a buck-boost topology, allowing the output voltage to be maintained regardless of the input voltage.

The MAX15006AASA/V+ also includes power-saving features, such as 0.75 V and 0.85 V shutdown modes and a fast start-up time (15 ms). It has a wide input voltage range of 2.5 V to 5.5 V and a low quiescent current (IAQ) of 1.2 μA. It is available in an 8-Pin SOT-23 package and is rated for operation over the operating temperature range of −40°C to +125°C.
