MAX15025DATB+T application field and working principle

PMIC - Gate Drivers, MAX15025DATB+T, are high-current gate drivers specifically designed for driving large power MOSFETs and IGBTs. This two-channel gate driver features robust high-side and low-side drivers that include overvoltage protection, overlapping desaturation protection, and overcurrent protection. This high performance device also features logic-level input, as well as a shutdown mode. The MAX15025DATB+T has applications in welding machines, motor drives, load switches, power supplies and so on.

The MAX15025DATB+T consists of two independent isolated high-side MOSFET gate drivers for driving main power switches. The low-side gate driver is an isolated N-channel gate drive for controlling body diode of the main power switches. It also includes an integrated charge-pump for providing gate drive isolation through an opto-coupler connection. There is an under-voltage lockout (UVLO) circuit for controlling output power as well as an adjustable current limit to sense overcurrent conditions.

The driver is designed to comply with various industrial and automotive standards. The MAX15025DATB+T features a wide operating temperature range (-40°C to 125°C) and is able to operate at high temperatures up to 175°C. It also features logic-level input, wide range of output voltage and a current sense to detect overcurrent conditions.

The MAX15025DATB+T features an integrated gate driver with two independent channels; each that can deliver up to 25A peak and 12A continuous current. The MAX15025DATB+T can be controlled with the logic-level inputs. The input voltage range is from 6V to 24V and supports push-pull and open drain logic levels. The gate driver also includes a enable pin to enable/disable the device.

The MAX15025DATB+T integrated circuitry monitors the load current with an over/under current sense. This eliminates the need for external current sense resistors and reduces overall system cost. Its low pin-count and small package size allow for easy design, assembly and testing. The device operates at a high switching frequency up to 5MHz, and is designed to support both PWM and Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) waveforms.

The MAX15025DATB+T has a low EMI because of the switches, and the ELI rating of the device is less than 1, depending on the application. This device is also equipped with built-in protection against overvoltage and overlapping desaturation protections.
