The MAX15068ATP+ is a complete Hot Swap controller, with a wide range of applications. It features a highly efficient power management and thermal control, making it ideal for use in extreme environments where safety and performance are vital.

The MAX15068ATP+ provides protection against overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, short-circuit, over temperature and ESD. It has integrated logic-level translation circuitry and a programmable current limit offering a high degree of reliability.

The device is supplied in a 20-pin TSSOP package with an on-chip clock oscillator. The clock speed can be programmed via the SPI interface, allowing a smooth transition between system functions. Additionally, the device can be used in high-efficiency applications, due to its adaptive power-saving mode.

The MAX15068ATP+ has a built-in trickle charger for keeping Li-Ion and NiMH batteries charged. This charger features an integrated low-side switch and current limit that can be adjusted from 1 mA to 150 mA. The MAX15068ATP+ can also be configured to optimize the charge and discharge of the battery, making it suitable for use in automotive and industrial applications.

The MAX15068ATP+\'s hot swap controller has an active time-delay circuit for controlling EOS (often referred to as Auto-On). This circuit monitors input voltage and keeps the gate drive active during turn-on, preventing any circuit-induced damage to system components. The device also ensures that the gate drive remains active if the system is shut down.

The MAX15068ATP+ features an integrator-based OVP that employs an analog accumulator to monitor the gate current limit or gate-current-sense threshold. The device includes an adjustable soft-start, enabling smooth startup of regulated load. The soft-start eliminates surge current and eliminates turn-on surges, thus improving overall system reliability. Additionally, the MAX15068ATP+ includes an adjustable shortpin delay, preventing premature conduction in a short-pin condition.

The MAX15068ATP+\'s short-to-battery protection feature prevents catastrophic circuit damage and fires by bringing the gate current to zero within 10µs. It also includes an over-temperature shutdown, preventing any system damage that may occur in high-temperature environments. This device also features a 2-wire bus slave mode, making it compatible with various industry-standard communication protocols for device configuration.
