MAX15091ETI+T is a Hot Swap controllers advanced series from Maxim Integrated. This series was designed for system power management in applications that required long-term fault protection and robust system operations.
The MAX15091ETI+T can be used in a wide range of applications for providing a safe and reliable system power up or down. Primarily, it is suited as a reliable power supply for AC/DC coupled systems and PC Boards. Additionally, these controllers are also suitable for any system that requires a hot swap function.
The MAX15091ETI+T controller gives system designers unprecedented protection and best-in-class efficiency thanks to its advanced features. This includes the closed-loop current monitoring and precise measurements capabilities. Additionally, the continuity of power draw is assured thanks to the built-in slew rate control. Furthermore, this model also provides programmable current limit settings.
The MAX15091ETI+T is designed to be both cost-effective and very easy to configure. This is made possible by a simple Solderless Terminal Block (STB) configuration. As such, the system power supply can be smoothly transitioned from standby to active state with no extra components needed.
The MAX15091ETI+T also features a low quiescent current, critical fault delay logic, device shutdown with latch propagation to the host controller and much more. This innovative Hot Swap controllers can further offer superior protection against overcurrent, undervoltage and overtemperature conditions.
The MAX15091ETI+T is compliant with the RoHS Directive and is widely available in several forms. This includes the widely available 10 pin thin-shrink small-outline package (TSSOP) and the 8-pin-dual-flat-no-lead (DFN) package.
When it comes to its circuitry and components, the MAX15091ETI+T uses its own sophisticated design. This includes its own on-board control loops that monitor the supply currents for protection. Thanks to this, the controller can continuously detect system failures before they can become too serious. This feature is further complimented by the current limit setting, precision current monitoring and slew rate control.
The inner workings of the MAX15091ETI+T feature Fault Detect (FD) logic, overcurrent and overvoltage protection. It also comes with an independent overcurrent protection (OCL) circuit, adjustable current limit, and adjustable switch slew rate. These components further monitor the system load, as well as the temperature of the devices.
Finally, the MAX15091ETI+T also features proprietary pulse frequency modulation (PFM) control logic. This logic allows the controller to independently adjust the amount of power provided to the load to maintain the highest efficiency. This feature also helps the controller to reduce its power consumption, resulting in a cost-effective solution for Hot Swap applications.
