MAX16036PLB31+T

The MAX16036PLB31+T is a fully integrated power-on reset (POR), power-supply supervisor. It is the fifth generation of SuperVolt Family of supervisor and monitoring integrated circuits. This device integrates monitoring, reset, and supervisory functions into a single package and features low supply current and high-accuracy thresholds.

The MAX16036PLB31+T is designed to hold a microcontroller, digital signal processor (DSP), or any other microprocessor in reset until the voltage of the power supply rail rises and reaches a safe operating level.

This device can be used in a solar panel, battery powered and other power supply based systems. It also has wide range of applications in consumer, automotive and industrial systems. This device can be used to monitor single, two and three-supply systems.

The MAX16036PLB31+T works by setting a built-in voltage detect threshold (VDT) and a power-on reset (POR) threshold. When the voltage at the output of the supervisor reaches the VDT setting, the supervisor’s output is asserted. If the voltage at the output of the supervisor drops below the setting of the POR threshold, the output is de-asserted and kept off until the VDT is again reached.

The MAX16036PLB31+T has an inbuilt voltage monitor that detects voltage of any power supply rail in the system. The observed voltage is compared against an internal threshold in order to determine whether the reset signal should be asserted or de-asserted. This threshold can be set at any voltage level from 0.25V to 3.63V.

The output current of the MAX16036PLB31+T is about 10mA. It delivers a reset pulse of 250ms width. The reset pulse is asserted for minimum of 20ms and rises in about 1.5ms.

The device also provides an extensive range of protection against brownout, power-on reset and power-good thresholds. This protection includes overload, latch-up, short circuit, reverse supply, power sequencing and voltage droop protection.
