The MAX17491GTA+ is a highly integrated gate-driver solution for automotive polarity-invertible 3-phase brushless DC motor systems. This device includes a single-phase motor control switch, integrated 600V MOSFETs, a Buck pre-regulator, high-voltage linear linear current regulator, high-side short circuit protection, and over-temperature protection. The MAX17491GTA+ offers a smaller footprint, better reliability, and longer battery life than conventional three-phase gate drivers.

The MAX17491GTA+ is suitable for automotive applications such as Electric Power Steering (EPS) systems, power liftgates, transmission shifting and air conditioning. It offers three integrated half-bridges with high- and low-side MOSFETs, low-side precharge output, enhanced overcurrent and overtemperature shutdowns, and programmable linear current regulator (LCR). The device supports high-power PWM control of both stop/start and commutation modes. Its three high-side MOSFETs have configurable current sensitivities (1A, 2A, 5A), providing better control of motor dynamics and smoother commutation.

The MAX17491GTA+ operates off a rail voltage between 15V and 60V, while providing a logic rail up to +6V. Its advanced PWM and current-sensing mechanisms offer independent control of motor speed and current at full torque. The device also includes a deadtime adjustment pin, which allows motor instant start-up.
