MAX1954CEUB+ Working Principle

The MAX1954CEUB+ functions as a switch mode DC-DC controller by utilizing a fixed-off time (FOT) control architecture. The MAX1954CEUB+ is designed to switch its output quickly between two different states; on and off. When it is on, the device allows current to flow through the load and when it is off, current is diverted away from the load. The device is also capable of producing a moderate current waveform by using an inductor.The MAX1954CEUB+ uses an oscillator circuit to generate an internally generated pulse width modulation (PWM) signal. This signal is used by the device to control the switching of the main output transistor ON and OFF. When the voltage reaches the predetermined level, the device then turns ON, allowing the current to flow through the load.
