RF receivers are electronic circuits that receive RF signals from antennas or other sources and convert them into useful signals. The MAX2390ETI+ is a highly integrated direct-conversion RF receiver for wideband applications. It offers low current consumption and a compact size, as well as industry-leading performance and flexibility for a variety of wireless applications.

The MAX2390ETI+ provides enhanced performance compared to traditional partial-parallel architecture because of its unique, full-parallel mixer design, which reduces quantization noise energy and increases linearity performance. The result is an improvement in receiver sensitivity and dynamic range with improved linearity.

MAX2390ETI+ Application Field

The MAX2390ETI+ can be used in a variety of applications, including digital wireless paging systems, wireless microphones, CW radars, cable modems, and cellular and PCS base stations. In addition, it can be used in high-speed wireless data transmission applications and wireless communications for bidirectional personal area networks. It is also suitable for automotive and consumer applications, such as remote keyless entry systems, garage door openers, and Burglar alarm systems.

MAX2390ETI+ Working Principle

The MAX2390ETI+ direct-conversion RF receiver uses three separate channels in its receive path. These are an externally tuned dual-band bandpass filter, an automatic gain control (AGC) preamplifier, and a mixer/linearizer. The dual-band bandpass filter assists with image rejection, while the AGC preamplifier automatically adjusts the signal level. The last stage is the mixer and linearizer, which converts the received signal to an intermediate frequency (IF).

The IF signal is then amplified and filtered by two stages of linear-in-dB variable gain amplifiers (VGAs). The programmable gain range, DC offset control, and linear IF bandwidth make the MAX2390ETI+ a flexible solution for a variety of applications. Finally, the IF signal is detected and down-converted to the baseband signal, which can then be processed by the digital baseband.

The MAX2390ETI+ provides industry-leading performance for a variety of wireless applications and is an ideal solution for low power and compact size.
