The MAX3071EESA+T is an interface driver, receiver and transceiver, designed for ultrasonic power line communications. It combines the functionality of an ultra-low power Standby controller and a 10Base-T Ethernet transceiver, enabling interface applications which require very low power consumption. The MAX3071EESA+T has a proprietary low-power operating mode that allows the chip to be operated on just 2mA of current, reducing overall power consumption significantly. In Standby mode, the device can be configured to monitor the network for Ethernet traffic and detect if Ethernet is present. Once Ethernet is detected, the device switches to Normal mode, waking up the network and allowing the Ethernet traffic to pass through. The MAX3071EESA+T can also be configured to automatically switch back to Standby mode after a defined period of time if no Ethernet traffic has been detected.
