The LVDS protocol is used in ultra high-speed data transfer protocols, as well as in high-speed Ethernet.

The MAX3084EESA+T provides two ports, with each port having one LVDS receiver and one LVDS transmitter. The receiver is responsible for receiving digital data from the source and the transmitter is responsible for sending the digital data to the destination. The receiver has a receiver differential input with two (2) terminating resistors—one on each side of the differential input—and a receiver bias current that controls the threshold for the receiver to identify the data. The transmitter operates with a current-driven push-pull circuit and provides the output power for the LVDS receiver.
