Interface-drivers, receivers and transceivers are often found in electronic circuits, providing communication and data exchange between two different components or devices. In particular, MAX3087EESA+ is one type of 3.3V 20 Mbps ESD protected bus transceiver IC operating in high-speed differential signaling environments. Application fields

MAX3087EESA+ is a high-performance transceiver IC suitable for many interfaces, including SMPTE 259M, RS-422, Ethernet and Fibre Channel. Apart from such applications, this IC is also suitable for higher speed applications such as HDMI, HDCP, IEEE 1394, High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) and Universal Serial Bus (USB). Other applications these drivers can be used in includes up to Gigabit Ethernet, 10/100/1000 Mb/s serial data transmission, Local Area Network (LAN) and gigabit serial data transfer. Additionally, it can be used to interface PIO Cards, Keyboard/Mouse ports, UARTs and Parallel ports.

MAX3087EESA+ supports two kinds of data formats, including small-outline integrated circuit (SOIC) and tiny-outline integrated circuit (TOIC). These two kinds of data formats can also be used in various kinds of system designs such as LAN and peripheral protocols, AV/CCTV/home networking and digital signals.

Working Principle

MAX3087EESA+ works to transmit data from one device to another, converting the differential signal into single-ended signal and vice versa. This IC consists of a pair of receivers, a pair of drivers, and a logic control with separate driver-enable and receiver-enable features.

The single-ended input signals received at the drivers are converted to differential signals and transmitted to the receivers. The receiver then sends the output signals to the logic control. The logic control sends the signal to the drivers. The drivers then convert the signal back to single-ended signal and send them through the output pins.

To increase efficiency and reduce power consumption, MAX3087EESA+ also has an active-low Disable feature that can be used to shut down the device. The Disable feature will reduce power consumption by a maximum of 70% when used. Additionally, this IC also has an ‘Active-Low Shutdown’ mode which can be used to reduce power consumption by a maximum of 93%.
