The MAX3095CEE+T is an ultra low-power serial peripheral interface (SPI) data transceiver and voltage level-shifter designed to operate from a single supply. It contains two voltage level-shifters that serve as bi-directional logic-level translation between an SPI interface operating at either a 2.8-V (Vcc1) or 3.3-V (Vcc2) logic level and a single 1.8-V supply (VEE). These level-shifters are especially useful for mixed-voltage I/O systems, where a single output voltage must be accepted by several GPIOs with varying external voltage levels. This transceiver has two separate, non-overlapping SPI interfaces that allow two independent communication paths, either in a typical four-wire (no CS) mode or in an eight-wire (with CS) mode. The communication speeds are up to 33MHz in four-wire mode and up to 16MHz in eight-wire mode. It also allows applications to use fewer pins while still allowing full-duplex communication.
The MAX3095CEE+T offer advanced SPI Interface technology, combining low power consumption with a wide operating voltage range and high-speed data rate support. It supports both four-wire and eight-wire mode, meaning it supports separate data-in and data-out pins, in addition to the common SPI clock and chip-select lines. This allows for full-duplex communication on multiple channels, as well as for minimizing pin-count for cost and space savings. The chip can also be configured for bidirectional communication and has a low-power mode to reduce power consumption when the device is idle.
The MAX3095CEE+T features two independent, non-overlapping serial peripheral interfaces that operates from 1.8V VCC supply and is tolerant up to 3.3V VCC supply. The two differential input/output signals for each SPI port are MAX3095CEE+T TX[1:0] and MAX3095CEE+T RX[1:0]. These are level-shifted by on-chip voltage level-shifters. The internal level-shifter supports bi-directional logic-level translation between a 2.8V logic level (VCC1) or a 3.3V logic level (VCC2) of SPI interface and a single 1.8V logic level (VEEx). The transceiver supports two 8-bit shift registers, suitable for a two wire mode or for a four wire mode.
The MAX3095CEE+T also includes a SPI control logic block that configures the behavior of the SPI port. The SPI control logic block controls command and data transmission order and support various formats include memory access modes. The SPI control logic block also provides read/write synchronization to ensure the correct data values at byte boundaries during read and write operations. The SPI control logic block can also be used to add time-out or fault protection mechanisms.
In addition, MAX3095CEE+T provide several safety functions, including error detection, clock synchronization and reset generation, uplink scrambling and downlink scrambling. At the core, a power-on reset (POR) is used to guarantee data dependencies. Furthermore, it includes three auxiliary circuits for powering down the chip and for analog measurements of power rails.
The MAX3095CEE+T provides a complete interface solution for SPI applications, from small, low power mobile products to automotive ECUs. It is suitable for high-speed communication in automotive electronics and industrial control systems, as well as for applications such as switch control, data acquisition and logging and gateways.
